Well, if we are going to post about it (I would have a week ago if I knew anyone cared)...
Valve to Deliver Steam & Source on the Mac
Quote from: Steam News
March 8, 2010, 11:15 am - Valve - Press Release
Leading Gaming Service Expands to Mac Platform
Valve announced today it will bring Steam, Valve's gaming service, and Source, Valve's gaming engine, to the Mac.
Steam and Valve's library of games including Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Half-Life series will be available in April.
"As we transition from entertainment as a product to entertainment as a service, customers and developers need open, high-quality Internet clients," said Gabe Newell, President of Valve. "The Mac is a great platform for entertainment services."
"Our Steam partners, who are delivering over a thousand games to 25 million Steam clients, are very excited about adding support for the Mac," said Jason Holtman, Director of Business Development at Valve. "Steamworks for the Mac supports all of the Steamworks APIs, and we have added a new feature, called Steam Play, which allows customers who purchase the product for the Mac or Windows to play on the other platform free of charge. For example, Steam Play, in combination with the Steam Cloud, allows a gamer playing on their work PC to go home and pick up playing the same game at the same point on their home Mac. We expect most developers and publishers to take advantage of Steam Play."
"We looked at a variety of methods to get our games onto the Mac and in the end decided to go with native versions rather than emulation," said John Cook, Director of Steam Development. "The inclusion of WebKit into Steam, and of OpenGL into Source gives us a lot of flexibility in how we move these technologies forward. We are treating the Mac as a tier-1 platform so all of our future games will release simultaneously on Windows, Mac, and the Xbox 360. Updates for the Mac will be available simultaneously with the Windows updates. Furthermore, Mac and Windows players will be part of the same multiplayer universe, sharing servers, lobbies, and so forth. We fully support a heterogeneous mix of servers and clients. The first Mac Steam client will be the new generation currently in beta testing on Windows."
Portal 2 will be Valve's first simultaneous release for Mac and Windows. "Checking in code produces a PC build and Mac build at the same time, automatically, so the two platforms are perfectly in lock-step," said Josh Weier, Portal 2 Project Lead. "We're always playing a native version on the Mac right alongside the PC. This makes it very easy for us and for anyone using Source to do game development for the Mac."
Support for the Mac in Source and Steamworks is available to third parties immediately. Interested developers should contact Jason Holtman at

Is Valve Bringing Steam To The Mac?

Yesterday's
announced update
to Valve's Steam digital distribution service came with a surprise—hints that the Half-Life developer may be planning to add Mac OS X support to the currently Windows-only software.
Steam forum members dug through newly released files from the recently launched open beta and dug up a handful of Mac OS X-specific graphics, like the open, maximize and minimize jewel icons that are used in the operating system's windows.
While those icons could be chalked up to Steam's change to a WebKit-based rendering engine for the client—Valve has moved away from Microsoft's Internet Explorer for Steam's new UI—there are a few other Mac-specific graphics buried within. That includes system dock graphics and a handful of OS X menu files.
While the current Steam library is Windows only, many of Valve's publishing partners, including EA, Take-Two Interactive, PopCap Games and id Software, publish Mac versions of their games, a potential audience whose needs are not being met by Steam.
We've reached out to Valve to see why the developer has added OS X graphics to Steam and if that means support for the Apple crowd, but have not yet heard back.
Mac OS X Support!

Valve Teases Upcoming Mac Announcement, Not So Subtly
Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal and Steam Coming to Mac in April

After much speculation and some not-so-subtle hinting, Valve has officially announced a Mac version of popular gaming service Steam coming in April, and its bringing Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Half-Life series with it.
While rumblings of Steam coming to the Mac platform have been stirring for quite some time, the first solid indicators came last month, when Mac-specific graphics were
found in the beta test files
for the new Steam service. Then Valve took things a step further, teasing Mac users with a
series of images
featuring popular Valve games integrated with Mac themes.
"As we transition from entertainment as a product to entertainment as a service, customers and developers need open, high-quality Internet clients," said Gabe Newell, President of Valve. "The Mac is a great platform for entertainment services."
The Mac version of Steam will include all of the features of its PC counterpart, as well as a new feature called Steam Play, which allows customers who purchase the game on one platform to download and play it for the other at no additional charge.
While it remains to be seen how many third-party developers will jump on board the Mac train, Valve is full-steam ahead on supporting the platform, eschewing popular emulation techniques to deliver native Mac games, day and date with the PC versions from here on out.
Valve's first simultaneous release for Mac and PC will be
Portal 2
, announced earlier this month.
And now Mac users will be able to experience the joy of a large Steam release. I can't wait to share that with you guys.
Original Left 4 Dead Also Coming To Mac

While it wasn't listed among
the other Valve games that were getting Mac OS X support
earlier today, the original Left 4 Dead is also making its way to Apple computers alongside its sequel.
The official Left 4 Dead blog confirms that Francis, Bill, Zoey, and Louis will be hitting the Mac platform this spring, right alongside Portal, Half-Life, Counter-Strike and Team Fortress 2. And, like all the other games Valve is giving the Mac treatment, the original L4D will be cross-platform compatible, meaning Mac and PC users will for once have to find common ground in order to survive.

Yeah, most mixing software works for both PC and Mac. It's just that all the top Djs use Macbooks. Maybe theyre just doing that cause they're cool though.
But i've done a little more research, and i'll probably end up getting a PC laptop if i do indeed decide to get one. (which is probably still a long ways off) If money wasn't an issue, I'd prolly get a Macbook because i've heard that they're more reliable?? I mean that'd be the ONLY reason to get a Mac over a PC for me, cause if i had a gig, i wouldn't want my laptop to decide to fail on me.

Macs are pretty nice to honest, I had a g3 with OSX panther on it and it was pretty funny to play with especially since I was running a game server off of it but for me its not practical for my uses. Its really down to what its practical for you. You could always just build a hackintosh computer or find a laptop that you can install Hackintosh on and save the $500 for the mac name.
